Rubbing Shoulders

We're saying our goodbye's to the U.S. Ambassador to Micronesia, Doria Rosen. She was here this past week to oversee the local election.  She truly is a gem and it has been a great pleasure talking with her and getting to know her.  It becomes difficult to separate from friends made while we've been here when we know that we may not ever see them again.  Bill and Kiki Stinnett, also in the picture, are a couple of the movers and shakers on this island, they own and operate The Trukstop Hotel where we live.

Ambassador Rosen works hard trying to understand the Micronesian traditions and the beautiful people here. Her level of involvement is very high and she always makes herself available for them to interact with her. She is trying hard to help them make improvements so Micronesia can grow and remain strong.
This is the election polls for the outer islands in the State of Chuuk, that comprises all the islands in our Lagoon and about a dozen islands outside of the Lagoon.  The people here in Chuuk are always moving around so this polling place is for those that are from another island but living here on this island.
